sw would have been so much shorter if one clone decided to murder palpatine in his office because. who are they gonna arrest. sadly the suspect looks like 1000+ other men and all of them forgot what they did last friday night

alternatively

clone #1, looking at the security cam footage: oh yeah that’s totally me

clone #2: no way look at this handsome face. that’s me

clone #3: you weren’t even on coruscant during that time

clone #2: that’s my cover

clone #4: shut it everybody i stabbed him

clone #1, furiously pointing at the footage: he wasn’t stabbed you shithead, he got shot!

clone #4: yeah with my knife

One of the Clones eagerly suggests a DNA test to prove he’s guilty and the people investigating die inside.

So here it is!  I gave an already creepy song an even creepier mood by turning Crystal Kingdom into something nice and terrifying.  This is what plays as god lies to you, moments before chaos reigns and you lose an arm.  Good luck, folks.

Credit for the original melody of course goes to Griffin McElroy, this is much more of a test for myself - I wanted to see if I could recreate it entirely by ear.  How did we do?

Happy Crystal Kingdom graphic novel day! Here’s a piece I did a hot second ago that sounds creepy and soothing in all the right ways :)

I generally despise the attitude of “this is America speak English” bc other people’s language choices and abilities are none of my fucking business on top of English not even being native to this land, but in this one specific instance I really wish my cat would learn some damn English

When Leia passes away, an older Grogu comes for Artoo and takes him home, so neither of them have to be alone anymore. Because Grogu was taught to fix anything by his fathers, he’s able to keep Artoo running for another fifty years, until even Artoo—brave, hero Artoo—can’t keep up anymore. He’s old, his programming is far out of date, and he’s so very, very tired.

When Artoo finally goes dark, shutting down for good with a soft see you around, kid, Grogu takes him to Tatooine and leaves him high on a mesa, out of reach of Jawas and Sand People, looking out over the remains of the Lars farm, forever guarding his children.

it’s earlier in the morning than i’m usually awake and my brain started mixing up @elftwink‘s taakitz hero/villian coffeeshop au with  @ceilingfan5‘s blupjean’s mob oneshot and this is all to say:

taako, college grad barista trying to suppliment his living by dabbling in villian work, falling for his superhero rival: listen. i have made some choices

lup: lol at least my boyfriend is normal

barry: *is in the mob*

#oh that IS a funny combination like. i am Thinking#heres my pitch: krav finds out barry is in the mob via hero work of some variety after he’s already met lup and barry#immediate 3 day ethical dilemma about whether or not he should tell lup#bc it could potentially ruin their relationship but doesnt she have a right to know???#but also is it a safety issue to tell lup??? would her knowing about his mob connections put her in danger?#and is it ethical for him to tell a secret that isnt even his even if its potentially dangerous??#he wouldnt want people telling the ppl in his life that he’s a superhero. isnt that kind of the same thing?? etc etc#eventually he goes to taako and is like ok. so i think barry is in the mob#intending to ask him for advice or something#and taako is like oh yeah lup told me months ago wild right? anyway do you wanna look at my plans for a death ray#i need to make sure you can actually destroy it i think it’s too good rn#kravitz goes thru every stage of grief in under 10 seconds and settles on ‘i dont know what i expected’#taz#taz balance#(kravitz refuses to look at the plans and pretends to be insulted that taako even asked#taako thinks he can’t even destroy a death ray? no confidence in his abilities whatsoever#maybe don’t build one if you’re that concerned about it actually working) (via @elftwink)

how does star wars media manage to be this beautiful transcendent life changing work of fiction and yet be the dumbest shit imaginable at the same time. net zero intellectual value.

(Screenshotted so I could make this a photo post.)

This is my emergency kit. It’s a small sliver mesh bag about the length of my hand that I started carrying five or six years ago–its contents change as needed. Currently, it holds (working from the top left):

  • a pocket knife (one of my favorites; I have several of these. I almost always have one of these on me somehow)
  • a little nail clipper
  • a sewing kit with red, black and white thread, needles, spare earring backs and buttons
  • a deck of mini playing cards, wrapped in hair ties and rubber bands
  • a makeup wipe packet, nabbed from a hotel
  • packets wipe on deoderant and shoeshine
  • a flat pen
  • a flat wallet/card multitool, with hex bolt, bottle opener, and saw blade, and a heavy-duty needle pushed through its little folder
  • a measuring tape with a 1x1 inch mirror sitckytacked to it
  • a packet of antibiotic cream
  • a 16-gig flash drive, which includes a file with family photos and contact info
  • a lighter
  • an allergy pill
  • a paper packet of dental floss, also nabbed from a hotel
  • two packets of Blistex
  • a small safety pin, wrapped in about twenty feet of the string I use for bookbinding (a leftover from my bookmaking days)
  • a little plastic bag with replacement glasses nosepieces and screws
  • a little bundle of three-inch zipties
  • a lineup of hotel roomkeys or sample credit cards, each wrapped in about ten feet of tape, including
    • medical/skin tape
    • electrical tape
    • double sided tape
    • scotch tape
    • gaff tape
    • white electrical tape
    • duct tape
  • three little coils of stuff: strong jewler’s wire, lightweight fishing line, and 50lb fishing line
  • iron man and captain america and “skin tone” bandaids
  • Nivea lotion in a round tin
  • a mini composition notebook
  • a lint roller
  • a tide pen
  • a tiny squeeze bottle of liquid mint breath freshener
  • bobby pins
  • chalk for hiding stains on white cloth or marking dark materials

This got long, sorry. But this is an incredibly useful thing to have on me–I can’t tell you how many times someone’s gone, “Hey, does anybody have…?” and I actually did. Sometimes this kit has clear nail polish in it (for when nylons run) screwdrivers, bug spray, chapstick, and all sorts of other stuff. What it holds depends on what I spend most of my time doing.  I highly encourage everybody to make one and chuck it in your bag.

Some people on this website learnt the word “trope” and let it settle comfortably into the vocabulary space that should have been occupied by the word “cliché”.

“Trope” is a neutral word. If a particular trope is overused ad nauseam, it becomes a cliché. Saying you hate tropes does not make any sense.

“I hate recurring themes and motifs”

Well, good luck finding fictional content you can safely consume

You can hate particular tropes. You can be violently opposed to reading any YA book where the female protagonist has to choose between a Mysterious Bad Boy and Her Childhood Friend, you can avoid Enemies To Lovers like the plague.

But looking for a work of literature without tropes is like looking for a food recipe without ingredients.

Fun fact, “cliché” is a very old French printers term.

In the early days of movable type frequently repeated phrases would be cast as a unit and cliché was the sound they would make as they were dropped into the printers frame.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is such a force of chaos and I love that for him

Losing my mind over this comment. the randomness, the fanciful imagery, the lack of meaningful context. 10/10 great job tumblr

andrew lloyd webber aka the creator of Phantom of the opera and Cats, but more importantly the man responsible for the Sexy Thomas the Tank Engine musical adaption

The sexy?? Thomas the tank engine?? musical adaptation?? WHAT??

oh yes I am delighted to introduce you to the spectacle on roller skates known as the STARLIGHT EXPRESS!

it’s the 9th longest running theatre show in West End history and, for some reason, the most successful musical in Germany?

the first song Webber wrote (ultimately removed from the final production) was called ENGINE OF LOVE. It was originally written for an American soul singer who could sing three notes simultaneously in the style of a steam whistle.

yeah. absolute banger

I have never seen Starlight Express, but this twitter thread has me curious.
